It is horizontally aligned with all study programs within the Bologna Process framework. Given its interdisciplinary nature, the program is open to graduates holding a Master’s degree in law, economics, or other fields (such as engineering disciplines, including civil engineering, naval architecture, maritime studies, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, etc.), as well as graduates of other university graduate programs who have obtained at least 300 ECTS credits, subject to admission requirements. This inclusiveness also extends to graduates of former four-year university programmes who obtained academic titles such as dipl. iur., dipl. oec., dipl. ing., and related qualifications. Furthermore, as of 2024, individuals who have completed a professional graduate study program with at least 300 ECTS credits may also enroll, subject to admission requirements.

For students whose acquired knowledge and skills inspire further academic advancement, the program also offers vertical progression. Under the conditions prescribed for doctoral studies, students may continue their education in the doctoral program of the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, with recognition of ECTS credits obtained in this program. Additionally, students who have studied or are studying in other postgraduate specialist programs in the Republic of Croatia may, upon transfer to this program, be granted recognition of examinations passed in other postgraduate specialist study programs.

Lectures are conducted over two semesters. Students enroll in four compulsory courses each semester. In the first semester, in addition to compulsory courses, students are required to enroll in two elective courses and complete one research seminar (i.e., a case study), or alternatively, enroll in one elective course and complete more than one research seminar (case study). In the second semester, students choose one of the offered modules. The decision to activate one or both modules depends on student interest and enrollment capacity. The first module emphasizes the establishment of financial discipline within a company, as well as tools for its maintenance and preservation. The second module focuses on legal instruments that facilitate business operations of companies, particularly in the context of cross-border activities. In the second semester, students also select one elective course from among those offered within both modules.

Throughout both semesters, courses also provide complementary knowledge from economic disciplines as well as from the field of psychology. In this way, reflecting the realities of a business environment that inherently involves interaction between legal professionals and other experts, the program enables students to acquire knowledge and develop skills applicable regardless of their chosen career path, particularly in interdisciplinary professional settings such as those found in companies.

In addition to passing examinations in compulsory and elective courses, the program requires the completion of a final thesis. The expected duration of the program is 18 months. Upon successful completion, students are awarded the academic title of Specialist in Corporate Finance Law (spec. iur.).

Study programme

Academic title or degree awarded upon completion of the program:

Specialist in Corporate Finance Law (spec. iur.)

Alignment of the study with the corresponding qualification in the Croatian Qualifications Framework (CROQR) Register:

There is no corresponding qualification standard recorded in the CROQF Register.

Admission requirements:

Individuals who have completed a four-year university graduate program in law (dipl. iur.) or a university integrated five-year undergraduate and graduate study program in law (mag. iur.) are eligible to enroll in the program.
