From September 3rd to 6th, the now traditional International Maritime and Transport Law Conference was held in Dubrovnik, organized by the Croatian Maritime Law Association and the Faculty of Law, University of Rijeka.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a truly international event \u2013 as befits the global nature of maritime and transport law \u2013 bringing together 30 speakers from three continents and over ten countries. The program featured excellent presentations and vibrant discussions on a wide range of topics: from the over-a-century-old Hague Rules, to the legal challenges posed by technological development, as well as the pressing need to build a sustainable maritime industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For those still hungry for ideas, the perfect dessert came in the form of a book promotion: “International Maritime Law and Practice \u2013 Comparative Law in Context” by \u010caslav Pejovi\u0107.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Faculty of Law in Rijeka was represented by Assoc. Prof. Iva Tuhtan Grgi\u0107, who presented “Updating a Century-Old Convention: Current Discussions on the 1910 Collision Convention”, and PhD candidate Agata Daj\u010di\u0107, who spoke on “Port Operations within the Framework of OECD Guidelines.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Among the attentive participants were also two of our law students, Neli Mato\u0161\u010devi\u0107 and Karin Kariko, who closely followed the entire program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A heartfelt thank you to Igor Vio, the spiritus movens behind this outstanding event. We hope to see everyone again next year!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
