Erasmus + Mobility Agreement signed with the Italian university Alma Mater Studiorum - Universita' di Bologna
The University of Rijeka signed the Erasmus + Mobility Agreement with the Italian university Alma Mater Studiorum - Universita' di Bologna, for the field of law. Students and Staff will be able to realize the mobility starting from the academic year 2020.-2021. Our teacher on the meeting of experts
One of our faculty members, Ass. Prof. Iva Tuhtan Grgić held, with Assoc. Prof. Gordan Stanković, had a presentation on Conversion, lawful investments, acquired rights and legitimate expectations. The presentation was the keynote element of a meeting of experts on the topics covered by professors Grgić and Stanković. The meeting was held in Rijeka, at the Hotel Jadran and encouraged an interesting discussion. We hope that its results will reach the ears of the legislator.
Head of the Government Office for Legislation at our Faculty
On 19 November 2019 the delegation of the Office for legislation of the Government of the Republic of Croatia, led by the Head of the Office Ms. Zdenka Pogarčić, visited the Faculty of Law in Rijeka. The meeting was the opportunity to talk about closer cooperation between the Office and the Faculty, in particular concerning the training of students and sharing the academic and professional experience between the two institutions.
Students' visit to the High Administrative Court of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Justice
On 13 November 2019, students enrolled in Administrative Law visited the High Administrative Court of the Republic of Croatia and the Ministry of Justice.
After the first part of the introduction in which the President of the High Administrative Court of the Republic of Croatia, Ante Galić, has given an overview of the administrative dispute, in conversation with the judges of the Court, Sanja Otočan and Blanša Turić, the students had an opportunity to learn more about the administrative procedure and administrative dispute in administrative legal cases.
The second part of the day was concluded in the Ministry of Justice in which Mirela Fučkar, Assistant Minister at Ministry of Justice, has explained work, organization and functioning of the central state administration bodies. After that, executive officials of some departments in the Ministry, took part in the discussion about development of various administrative conducts.
International conference “Digital Transformation – Societal and Technological Aspects”
On 25 October the Faculty hosted an international conference, “Digital Transformation – Societal and Technological Aspects”, within the project Legal aspects of digital transformation of society (uniri-drustv-18-252). Scholars were grouped in four consecutive panels that dealt with ethical, legal, linguistic, economical and other challenges standing before the implementation of digital technologies in a range of issues. The conference was attended both by members of the teaching staff and students, confirming the relevance of the topics the conference was dedicated to for both legal theory and legal education.
Professor Tomljenović re-elected as a President of the Chamber at the EU General Court
Our renowed Professor Dr. Vesna Tomljenović, was elected as a Judge to the EU General Court in 2013 and re-elected in 2019. She was also re-elected as the president of one of the ten Chambers of that Court. Congratulations!

Professor Vukas spoke at the conference at the Vienna Law Faculty
Prof. Dr. Budislav Vukas participated at the international scientific conference “Mittel- und osteuropäischen rechtshistorischen Konferenz Wien 2019 - Central and Eastern European Legal History Conference Vienna 2019 (CEELHC)” held on 24-28 September 2019 at Juridicum der Universität Wien. His topic was „Die Einflüsse der Krise von Triest auf die Völkerrechtsentwicklung“.
