On 16 October 2025, the Library of the Faculty of Law in Rijeka hosted another doctoral colloquium organized within our Doctoral Study Program, RiDoc. The topic of today’s session was “Cross-Section Study of Dynamics in Dispute Resolution“. The guest lecturer was Ava Borrasso, Chartered Arbitrator and Attorney at Law from the United States of America.
After our guest’s presentations on the US judicial system and alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms as bridges between Common Law and Civil Law systems, participants of the colloquium reflected on these themes with contributions based on their own research interests. Viktorija Pisačić, a doctoral student at the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, probed the possible role of ADR in tax matters. Adele Scopelliti, a doctoral student at the University of Camerino, talked about the dispute resolution in energy communities. Darko Vinketa, a postdoctoral fellow working on constitutional topics, reflected on the interplay of Common Law’s underlying philosophies with ADR. The discussion was moderated by Professor Ivana Kunda, also the head of the Doctoral Study Program at the Faculty of Law in Rijeka.
