At the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, a professional seminar titled “Linguistic Plurality in Media: International and National Legal Frameworks” will be held from 18 to 20 May 2026. The seminar will take place in the Blue Hall and will address current issues related to the legal regulation of linguistic diversity in media at both international and national levels.
The seminar is organised within the COST Plurilingmedia project, led by Professor Dr. Vesna Crnić Grotić, in cooperation with the Chair of European Public Law and the Chair of Foreign Languages at the Faculty of Law in Rijeka. The organisation involves international experts and researchers Craig Willis (European Centre for Minority Issues, Flensburg) and Lara Sorgo (Institute for Ethnic Studies, Ljubljana), as well as local academics Vesna Crnić-Grotić, Ana Pošćić, Martina Bajčić and Adrijana Martinović.
The seminar forms part of professional training activities aimed at exchanging knowledge and experience on legal frameworks for the protection of linguistic diversity in the media sphere, with particular emphasis on the challenges posed by contemporary media and the digital environment. By bringing together domestic and international experts, the seminar seeks to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and enhance understanding of the role of law in preserving and promoting linguistic diversity in the media.
