An international scientific conference “Protection of Women Athletes – Mothers and Pregnant Athletes, and the Protection of Child Athletes” is scheduled to begin on 29 May 2026 at 9:00 h, at the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, in the Blue Hall.
The conference is organized by the Centre for Sports Law, Sports Policy, and Sports Diplomacy at the Faculty of Law in Rijeka and brings together domestic and international experts with the aim of discussing the legal, ethical, and social aspects of protecting particularly vulnerable groups in sport. The focus is placed on current challenges in sports law and sports policy, with special emphasis on the legal status of women athletes during pregnancy and motherhood, as well as on the protection of the rights and welfare of child athletes in the contemporary sports system. The aim of the conference is to foster interdisciplinary dialogue and the exchange of knowledge in order to improve normative and institutional solutions for the protection of the rights of vulnerable categories of athletes.
