After the Faculty’s Institute of Sports Law, Sports Policies, and Sports Diplomacy held an Event on November 11, 2024, at the Rijeka City Hall in honor of the “Rijeka Olympian Abdon Pamich“—highlighting his life story as a native of Rijeka who, at the age of 14 and accompanied by his brother (two years older), left the city after World War II fearing for his life, only to go on to become one of Italy’s most celebrated athletes of all time—we are especially proud that, after the Institute’s initiative, the Italian Union nominated Abdon Pamich for the City of Rijeka’s “Coat of Arms of the City of Rijeka” award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to promoting our city. The award was ceremoniously presented to him on June 15, 2026, during the City of Rijeka Day celebrations. We congratulate him on this well-deserved honor!
