At the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, the new 2026/2027 academic year was officially opened on 1 October 2026, with a special welcome extended to the students who are beginning their studies at the Faculty this year. The ceremony, held in the Faculty’s Aula, was attended by first-year students of the Integrated Undergraduate and Graduate University Study Programme in Law and the Professional Undergraduate Study Programme in Administrative Studies, as well as members of the Faculty management, teaching and associate staff, and professional services staff.

The students were welcomed by the Dean of the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, Prof. Dario Đerđa, PhD, who wished them a warm welcome to their new academic environment and a successful start to their studies. In his address, he emphasised the importance of dedicated work, active participation in academic life, and making use of the many opportunities offered by the Faculty to its students. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of the legal profession for the well-being of society and the responsibility that comes with it.

Following the Dean’s address, the Vice-Deans and teaching and associate staff were introduced to the students, providing first-year students with an opportunity to become familiar from the very beginning with the people and services they can turn to throughout their studies for various types of information and support. The opening ceremony was also an opportunity to introduce the Faculty as an academic community and to emphasise the importance of students’ active participation in academic and student life.

After the ceremony, separate orientation meetings were held for first-year students of the Law and Administrative Studies programmes. During the meetings, students received detailed information about the organisation and delivery of their study programmes, their responsibilities as students, study regulations, attendance requirements and the fulfilment of academic obligations, as well as other important aspects of everyday student life. Particular attention was given to practical information intended to help students take their first steps in their new academic environment – from navigating the organisation of their studies and communicating with teaching and professional services staff to becoming familiar with the rights and obligations arising from their student status.

The Faculty of Law in Rijeka warmly welcomes all first-year students and wishes them a successful and rewarding academic journey, filled with knowledge, new experiences and memorable moments at the Faculty!
