As part of the celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Faculty of Law in Rijeka, a study visit to the Frankopan castles was organised on 26 September 2026 by the Alumni Club PRAVRI and within the framework of the ESF+ project Pontes Iuris.

Members of the Faculty Management, the Board and Council of the Alumni Club PRAVRI, alumni working in the Croatian judiciary, public administration and business sector, as well as Faculty students, had the opportunity to visit several Frankopan fortresses in Kraljevica and the hinterland of the Crikvenica-Vinodol region.

Through this study visit, the Faculty further strengthened the ties between its academic staff, alumni, and students, while also expressing gratitude to alumni who continuously support the Faculty as external lecturers, collaborators in scientific and professional activities, and contributors to the advancement of Faculty initiatives. The students who took part in the visit were also recipients of this year’s Faculty recognition award for their selfless commitment to the work of the Legal Clinic – Centre for the Provision of Free Primary Legal Aid.

In Kraljevica, the participants were officially welcomed by alumna Ms Paola Vučković, Deputy Mayor of the City of Kraljevica. We extend our gratitude to the City of Kraljevica and the Kraljevica Tourist Board for organising a guided tour of Kraljevica Castle and a tasting of a traditional local dessert. The visit continued with tours of the Drivenik and Bribir fortresses. We would also like to thank the City of Novi Vinodolski and the Novi Vinodolski Tourist Board for organising visits to these historic sites.

The visit was enriched by a series of highly engaging lectures delivered by our faculty member Prof. Dr. Željko Bartulović, who reminded participants of the role played by Croatia’s most influential noble families and of the medieval history of our region. The organised tour concluded in Novi Vinodolski, the birthplace of the Vinodol Code, where participants had the opportunity to learn about the growth and development of the Pavlomir family estate and winery.
