Department members prioritize teaching and research in the areas of private international law and European private law, along with intellectual property law, competition law, internet law, data protection law, family law, and consumer protection law. Their interests also extend to topics related to the European judicial area in civil and commercial matters as well as the impact of artificial intelligence on law. The Department takes pride in having among its former members Prof. Vesna Tomljenović, the first Croatian judge at the General Court of the European Union.
