Department members are deeply engaged in various facets of international law. Their research encompasses topics such as human and minority rights. They also dedicate their efforts to examining the implementation of international humanitarian law, the legality of humanitarian intervention, the evolving concept of the responsibility to protect, and questions regarding criminal and/or state responsibility for crimes committed during armed conflicts. Additionally, they explore issues related to the use of force and its permissibility, terrorism and counterterrorism measures, self-defense, and self-determination. Furthermore, they demonstrate interest in the development of other branches of international law, including the law of the sea, diplomatic law, and consular law.
