Institute of Criminal Sciences

The Institute has been uniting highly specialized researchers investigating the realms of criminal law, criminal procedural law, and associated disciplines. Serving as a hub for innovative scientific thought, the Institute critically examines traditional doctrinal principles and current legal frameworks, offering recommendations for their enhancement based on thorough research. With a primary focus on crime as a profoundly detrimental societal issue affecting all facets of community life, the Institute actively seeks interdisciplinary collaboration with collaborators from diverse scientific backgrounds. In recent years, its members have concentrated their research efforts on clarifying unresolved issues within criminal and misdemeanor legislation, exploring restorative justice, understanding the dynamics of violence, and advocating for heightened protection of vulnerable individuals’ rights. The Head of the Institute is Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dalida Rittossa.
