On Monday, July 14, 2025, at the impressive St. John’s Fortress in Šibenik, the physical component of the Erasmus+ BIP Summer School titled Digital and Transversal Skills for Lawyers in the Age of Artificial Intelligence was officially launched. This international summer school is organized by the Faculty of Law, University of Rijeka, in collaboration with the Šibenik University of Applied Sciences and with the support of partner institutions from Örebro University in Sweden, the Faculty of Law and Administration in Toruń, Poland, the Faculty of Law in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and the Faculty of Law in Belgrade, Serbia.
Following the virtual component, held from July 1 to July 11, twenty students from Sweden, Poland, Slovenia, and Serbia began the physical part of the summer school yesterday. The program was formally opened with welcome addresses by Dr. Ljubo Runjić, Dean of the Šibenik University of Applied Sciences, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ines Matić Matešković, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law in Rijeka. The day began with introductory integration activities, followed by interactive workshops focused on information and AI literacy, as well as on developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the digital context.
Over the five-day program, participants will engage in a series of expert lectures, workshops, and field activities, gaining knowledge and skills essential for modern legal professionals – from using large language models in legal analysis to addressing data protection and ethical issues in the application of artificial intelligence.
By participating in this program, students not only acquire essential digital-age legal skills but also foster international collaboration, teamwork, and build a professional network that transcends borders.
