Summer Schools

The Human Rights Summer School in Novi Vinodolski, a town where one of the most important cultural monuments of the Croatian people was adopted, as well as one of the significant European medieval documents (the Vinodol Code of 1288), was first organized in 2007. It gathers around 25 students each year from Croatian law faculties in Osijek, Rijeka, Split, and Zagreb, as well as the Faculty of Law in Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina). The Summer School serves as a forum for discussing the protection of human rights both at the regional and national levels, as well as for acquiring the professional knowledge and skills needed by future lawyers to improve the protection of human rights in their home countries. The primary goal of the Summer School is to familiarize students with the provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, as well as the practice of the European Court of Human Rights. Every year, respected domestic and international experts participate as lecturers, including professors from Croatian and foreign law faculties, as well as judges from the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court of the Republic of Croatia.

Since 2012, Michigan State College, in cooperation with the College of Rijeka, has been organizing a summer school in Ika on intellectual property law and information technology under the direction of Professor Adam Candeub. The school is attended every year by a large number of students from the USA, but also from the EU. It is an excellent opportunity to improve your knowledge of comparative and international law, improve your English language skills and meet students from different countries. The lecturers are renowned foreign experts, and teachers from the Faculty of Law in Rijeka also regularly take part. Classes are held on the premises of the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management.
