Basic information about the Program
The Professional Graduate Study Program in Public Administration was established in 2012 with the aim of meeting the needs and ambitions of graduates of the Professional Undergraduate Study Program in Administration for their further specialization. In addition to graduates of public administration, the program is open for enrollment to all graduates of other professional undergraduate studies in the social sciences, humanities, technical sciences and interdisciplinary sciences.
The program lasts two years, and on completion graduates receive 120 ECTS credits and acquire the academic title Master of Public Administration (mag. admin. publ.). Classes are organized in a rotational system, meaning that courses are delivered consecutively, each lasting three weeks. After completing a course, students can immediately take the exam. The exams are facilitated by various knowledge assessments conducted during the courses, which encourage students to maintain continuous study. The program is conducted exclusively for part-time students, with classes concentrated on two days per week, making it especially convenient for students who are employed. Additionally, this program features an individualized teaching approach tailored to vulnerable groups (such as students with disabilities, students with other difficulties, and student parents) as well as student athletes.
During the program, the legal framework and administrative practices are systematically analyzed, with the application of modern teaching methods such as drafting legal acts, simulating legal procedures, discussions, and individual or team-based problem-solving tasks. In addition to acquiring theoretical knowledge, the program emphasizes the development of practical skills and competencies. This is further supported by a wide range of elective courses, through which students can further specialize in specific administrative fields.
Through this study program, students will gain the necessary qualifications to be employed in more complex positions within state administration bodies, judicial bodies, expert services of the Croatian Parliament, the Office of the President of the Republic of Croatia, the Government of the Republic of Croatia, the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Croatia, the Ombudsman for Children, the Ombudsman for Gender Equality, the State Audit Office, municipal, city, and county administrations, agencies, commissions, and committees established to perform public duties, as well as legal entities with public authority. The Public Administration program is interdisciplinary. Students learn about various managerial methods, financing public administration, the application of European Union administrative law, judicial review of administrative actions, modernization of the administrative system, and more. Such specific knowledge, skills, and competencies enable graduates to quickly enter the labor market, advance in their careers, and continue their education in university specialist study programs.
