As part of the Science Festival, the Faculty of Law in Rijeka participated with a workshop for high school students titled “Nuclear Energy: Salvation or Threat – Who Has the Right to Decide?” held at the Eugen Kumičić Gymnasium in Opatija on April 24, 2026, from 16:45 to 18:00. The workshop was led by assistant Narda Krnetić Blečić, with the aim of encouraging discussion on the complex legal, ethical, and social aspects of nuclear energy use, as well as developing students’ critical thinking and ability to express well-argued opinions.
Through interactive activities and guided discussion, students had the opportunity to consider different perspectives, from the role of the state and international organizations to the responsibility of individuals and the community, and to reflect on decision-making in the context of public interest, environmental protection, and sustainable development. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of informed citizen participation in decision-making processes, as well as on understanding the legal framework governing the field of energy in Croatia and the European Union.
