Janja Hojnik is full professor at the Faculty of Law of the University of Maribor. Graduated in law and economics, doctor of legal sciences with passed state law exam. Vice-dean for research at the Faculty of Law in Maribor (2023-2027) and Head of the master’s program in European legal studies (from 2019). Member of the advisory board of the leading academic journal for EU law, Common Market Law Review, published by the University of Leiden. Member of an international and interdisciplinary expert group dealing with new technologies (Brown Bag Lunch Group, since 2023). So far, she has been the holder of three Jean Monnet projects of the European Commission, including the Jean Monnet Chair for the field of legal aspects of the smart and collaborative economy in the EU. In her research work, she focuses on legal aspects of the EU internal market, price regulation, international trade and legal aspects of the digital economy. She has independent scientific publications in several influential international legal journals, for example in the Common Market Law Review (Leiden), Legal Studies (Cambridge) and in the International Journal of Law and IT (Oxford). She participated in high-profile international scientific monographs, for example the commentary on the Treaty on the functioning of the EU at Springer and the first monograph on the evaluation of legal science in Europe (Edward Elgar Publishing). In Slovenia, she has also published several monographs on EU law independently or as co-authors, including the book Free movement of goods in the EU (GV Založba, 2010), for which she received an award from the Association of Lawyers of Slovenia.
